Charles Ischi AG – Testing Technology, Switzerland

“Charles Ischi Pharma-Pruftechnik” began in 1992 as a single company whose aim was to acquire customers from the local pharmaceutical industry in Switzerland. The company was soon able to develop its own sales network throughout Europe and in the Middle East. Charles Ischi, the owner and Managing Director, converted it into a joint stock corporation in 2000.

Today, Charles Ischi AG operates successfully in international markets selling products of Kraemer Elektronik GmbH and Charles Ischi AG. The excellent teamwork between the two companies ensures that the joint development and implementation of numerous customer-specific projects works so well. The sales and service network is being expanded all the time. Around 55 representative offices are currently active all over the world. Connections around the globe emanate from the company’s headquarters in Zuchwil, in the central Swiss canton of Solothurn – almost in the heart of Europe. It is from here that Charles Ischi AG coordinates the global sales network and maintains contact with long-standing and new customers.

Tablet positioning

In the P3 model, the Root system (manual, adjustable grooved plate) is available as an option and ensures tablet positioning for certain oblong shaped tablets. You can choose between three different surfaces: flat, light groove and deep groove.

Friability + Abrasion Testers

image10

AE-2 NOT AE-1

Abrasion & Friability Testers

The abrasion and friability tester consists of one or two test stations. If required, test drums can be equipped to test for wear due to rolling and falling or to test the abrasion of tablets, tablet cores, granules etc.

The tester meets all the latest requirements of the European & US Pharmacopoeia, GMP and GLP.

Friability & Abrasion of tablets

Friability and abrasion testing is used to test the durability of tablets during the production and packaging processes. A sample of tablets is falling or rolling over a fixed time, using rotating drums with different shovels. The result is inspected visually for broken tablets and the percentage of tablet weight lost.

Disintegration

DISI Series

Semi-automatic disintegration tester with LCD display and individual timer. Available from 1 to 4 baskets

Functionality

A few quick steps is all it takes to dismantle the testing baskets ready for cleaning. The basket assembly is extremely robust. It can be easily disassembled and even be fully submerged into a cleaning bath.

As each station is powered separately, you can test up to four different products at the same time. The soft start function ensures that the testing basket is immersed in a controlled manner.

Magnetic coupling

The testing baskets can be attached and removed quickly thanks to the magnetic coupling.

Clear view

The test baskets are almost completely made from transparent material. This simplifies the visual inspection substantially.

DISI-A Touch

The standalone variant DISI-A Touch is easy to operate using the integrated touchscreen. It is possible to upgrade to PC version at any time.
The device has 4GB of product memory. The standard printout of DISI-A Touch offers an overview of results in table form. Data can be exported via USB stick.
The system fulfils all EP/USP requirements.

Functionality

As each station is powered separately, you can test up to four different products at the same time. The soft start function ensures that the testing basket is immersed in a controlled manner.

The basket reciprocation mechanism

The baskets move vertically by stepping motors running in micro step mode. This allows the baskets to move smoothly in and out of the media and ensures strictly sinusoidal motion. Also, with multiple station testers the up and down movements are exactly identical in time and speed.

Measurement principle

When tests are performed using discs, the heights of the tablets will be sensed whenever the basket moves upward. The decrease of the tablet’s heights will be sent to the connected PC and displayed graphically and in real time on the PC’s monitor. If the use of discs is not permitted by the monograph, the operator will be prompted to enter the disintegration results manually.
The patented principle of measurement is the attenuation of an electromagnetic field when moving a short-circuited coil through this field. The electromagnetic fields are produced by six coils located in the basket’s lower plate. The electromagnetic circuits for signal conditioning are also hermetically sealed into this base plate. A tiny copper ring is molded into each of the six discs. This ring will attenuate the electromagnetic flux when the disc moves up or down. Energy supply and signal coupling between the basket assembly and the tester’s frame is done electromagnetically. This will prevent all contact problems caused by corrosion or contamination found with many traditional designs.

Inline Systems

CIW Series

The CIW splits into 3 models, every tester model is testing different parameters.

Functionality

The standard device is based on Kraemer’s UTS tablet testing systems and features a tablet separating system and a special transport star wheel for precisely positioning the specimen on the integrated scale.

CIW6.4

WEIGHT and LENGTH of capsules and other products.

Weight and Thickness check system for tablets

With the automatic CIW weighing system, you can weigh and measure the thickness of tablets, draggers and similar products during or after the production process.

image21

Online testing

Use the CIW6.3 as an online monitoring device connected to your tablet press or capsule filler. Sampling can be initiated either from the production machine or via our Ph21 software.

Forceless measurement!

In addition to the weight, the CIW6.4 provides optimal and nearly forceless length measurements for capsules. The capsule will be positioned without any impact on the measuring of the capsule length.

For the laboratory

Lab-tester version with PH21 software, 100% 21 CFR Part 11 compliant.

UTS 4.1 Universal Tablet Testing System

For IPC laboratories and online monitoring at the tablet press

The UTS-Series splits into various models, all tablet tester models are testing the main physical parameters of tablets

UTS 4.1

Test for Hardness

UTS 4.1 is a universal and fully automatic tablet testing system developed for industrial applications. The Kraemer UTS 4.1 is the proven model from a series of Kraemer tablet testing systems tested over many years – developed and designed in close cooperation with the pharmaceutical industry and major tablet press manufacturers.

UTS-IP65

The UTS-IP65 is designed for operation in isolators or washing bays, and features a pressure equalization function. The UTS IP65 is largely identical to the UTS IP-LR, but differs in the following features

UTS-IP65i Containment WiP testing system, OEB level 5

Containment and WiP designed automatic tablet testing system – hermetically sealed & washable.

UTS-IP65i

The UTS-IP65i automatic tablet testing system is an add-on to washable tablet presses for WIP or WOL applications, for the processing of medium and high-potent products.

The system may be used in the following applications

UTS-NIR Tablet testing system with API content measurement

image3

Automatic tablet testing system with active ingredient content measurement.

UTS4.1-NIR

The UTS NIR automatic tablet testing system combines the measurement of the physical parameters weight, thickness, diameter, length and hardness with near-infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIR analysis) to determine a tablet’s active ingredient content.

PAT

The UTS NIR is therefore a fully automated online PAT tool, which can be used in production or as an offline tester in the laboratory. In conjunction with a tablet press, the system allows you to monitor the production process continuously and transmit all test results directly to the tablet press. This way, you can take action straight away if there’s a problem, keeping your production process safe.
In addition, the NIR Flex N-500 FT-NIR transmission spectrometer from Büchi Labortechnik AG enables applications to be reliably transferred from the lab tester to the UTS NIR.
The system conforms to the European and US Pharmacopoeia and is 21 CFR Part 11 compliant.
